“The real source of happiness is inner peace. If our mind is peaceful, we will be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions, but if it is disturbed or troubled in any way, we will never be happy, no matter how good our external conditions may be. External conditions can only make us happy if our mind is peaceful. We can understand this through our own experience. For instance, even if we are in the most beautiful surroundings and have everything we need, the moment we get angry any happiness we may have disappears. This is because anger has destroyed our inner peace.”  ~ Venerable Geshe Kelsang Rinpoche

Series I  2/13/18 – 3/06/18
Training the Mind, the Meditation Practice and Preliminaries

The instructions on training the mind were given directly to the great 12th Century master Geshe Chekhawa by Buddha.  Geshe Chekhawa then wrote a beautiful poem entitled Universal Compassion, Seven Points of Training the Mind.  The first part of this poem will be broken down into practical meditations on freeing the mind from anger, jealousy and false pride.
Fee: $15 per class or $60 for series

Series II  3/13/18 – 4/10/18
Training the Mind in Wisdom and Transforming Adverse Conditions

Continuing with the second part of Universal Compassion, Seven Points of Training the Mind, we train in the wisdom realizing emptiness of the mind itself motivated by love and compassion.  Wisdom is like medicine because it completely removes our suffering; therefore we live life free from fears and anxiety.
Fee: $15 per class or $60 for series

Series III  4/17/18 – 5/08/18
Meditations on the Strength and Power of Humility, Commitments of Training the Mind

Universal Compassion, our main concern is to learn how to remain humble and not boast about what we are doing.  This very pure form of love, putting our self at the service of others, is the high mind of an enlightened being, and the source of balanced and stable contentment.
Fee: $15 per class or $60 for series

Beautiful Quote from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

“All our problems and all our unhappiness are created by our uncontrolled mind and our non-virtuous actions.  By engaging in the practice of Dharma, we can learn to pacify and control our mind, abandon non-virtuous actions and their root cause, and thereby attain permanent peace, the true cessation of all our suffering.”
