Our Daily Practice
How to Understand the Meditation Practice with DiscussionMeditation Classes Saturday Santa Ana

Our daily meditation practice contains preparatory prayers for creating the right internal conditions within the mind. These inner conditions allow us to develop concentration. And when we concentrate on virtuous objects that are the cause of inner peace, our mind stills and becomes clear. The objects of meditation are the twenty one meditations in the Meditation Handbook that come from the great 11th Century Master Atisha.

This special way of meditating also contains “Guru Yoga” a visualization of Buddha that bestows blessings, purifies negativity and increases our merit.

The second practice is a method for relying upon the Dharma Protector. Through this practice we overcome obstacles to our meditation practice and we create favorable conditions so we can nurture and increase our Dharma realizations.

These are the essential practices of the New Kadampa Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism and are found in the Heart Jewel sadhana. Sadhana is Sanskrit and means “method for receiving attainments.”
